FAQ

Why become a member of FamilyTies?
FamilyTies a family networking site. It's like a social networking site but is designed to help you keep in touch with your family and friends of your family. It's pretty common for people to not want to connect with their family on the same network as they connect with their friends. FamilyTies provides a safe alternative to modern social networks, and is designed particularly with the family in mind.
Is membership of FamilyTies really free?
FamilyTies does not charge members to use this service. Operational costs are intended to be covered by advertising revenues and commissions from affiliate deals as the site membership grows. The more poeple that join and use the site the easier it will be to cover costs initially, then we hope to expand the development team so we can build many new and fun features.
How easy is it to cancel my membership?
Click on the My Settings link displayed at the top right of every page (assuming you are signed in) and choose the Cancel Membership link on the General Settings dashboard. No need to call, or write an essay. Easy.
How does FamilyTies differ from all the social networks out there?
FamilyTies has been designed as a family network from the very beginning. Some key features are...
  1. Connections can be made between two households, between a household and an individual, and between two individuals. If two households connect then all the members of both households are implicitly connected, making it much quicker and easier to establish and maintain your network. Connections between two individuals are pretty much the same as social networks. Connections between a household and an individual are somewhere in between.
  2. FamilyTies welcomes children under 13, though they may not sign up by themselves. Parents or guardians may create accounts for minors and can control the information their minors can publish, as well as all their minor's connections.
  3. All members of FamilyTies have a profile. Profiles can consist of one or more pages. Members can control who can see each profile page. Households also share a household profile with similar features to individual profiles.
  4. Pet profiles - pets are often important members of households, so you can add your pet(s) to your household and have a fully administered profile page for each that you can use to share photos and connect with other family members.
  5. Photo sharing is big in family networking. FamilyTies does not limit the size or number of photos members can upload. Overall storage is limited, but every effort will be made to keep up with demand.
  6. The fridge module - kids can draw drawings and stick them on their grandparent's fridge.
  7. The owners of FamilyTies are dedicated to providing a safe and fun place suitable for members of all ages including their own children.
